Hi there and Welcome to this week's Can You Case It Card Challenge...

For this week's challenge I pulled out one of my favorite Unity Stamp Co. kits...Swagger

I used Bella Blvd. Color chaos/Orange Standz DSP...love the fun color combinations...I dusted off my Copic Markers to color in this cute little chick and hearts...I used Buttercup Lemon (Y21), Light Orange (YR02), and Strong Red (R46)...I stamped the chick and sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black...I stamped the cute chick on SU! Whisper White cardstock and used Memory Box Stitched Square Die Cuts for each square and to make it all come together I added a bit of SU! Old Olive ribbon...

CYCI #83 Thanks Teach...You Rock!

Well I am down to my last few days over summer...This coming Monday I head back to school for Teacher Work Week which will be full of meetings, setting up my classroom, working on lesson plans, and spending a lot of time at the copying machine! This week's CYCI theme is back to school so I couldn't miss this challenge...
As a teacher there is nothing like new school supplies and trust me we teachers love school supplies! When I thought about what to make for this challenge I knew that I wanted to makes something fun that you could put some school supplies in plus a little thank you note...
Here is what I came up with...

The kraft bag is from SU! along with the Tango Twist Ribbon, paper clip, Banner dies, Whisper White cardstock and ink...Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy, Real Red, and Pear Pizzaz...I used two different Paper Smooches stamp sets...Sentiment Sampler and Alphadot...I also used their Notebook Scallop Wise Dies (I cut the scallop part off)...For the paper I used Bella Blvd. Star Student DSP...Plus a clothes pin from Recollections...
I chose to add some whiteboard markers since chalkboards are a thing of the past plus we tend to go through those really quickly!
Thanks for stopping by!

The Cow Goes Moo....

My summer is coming to an end and the last week or two school has definitely been on my brain...A week from today I will be staring my 21st year of teaching...Ironically each year I still get nervous but then I remember it is just like getting back on a bicycle...you think you forget how to ride it but once you get going you remember how to do it...I have already started getting my ducks in a row with my classes...needless to say a teachers work is never done...This past weekend as I was cleaning up my desk and going through my scraps of paper I found these journal cards from Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety which I bought several years ago! I pulled out the remaining paper and stickers that came with the kit and went to work...
Here is what I came up with...
As most of you know my style is CAS so these tags are definitely me...I did add some stickers from the kit along with some ribbon from SU! and clothes pins from Recollections...I tried to add more "flair" but decided to stop there...
For about 13 years I taught elementary school ( I now teach middle school) and loved the little ones so when I saw these journal cards I immediately cut them out and went from there...I have a good friend of mine who still teaches elementary and I plan on giving them to her once the school year is going...I know that the little ones will love them...

Thanks A Bunch...

Hi there...thanks for stopping by to check out my latest blog post! Today's post is my first attempt at watercoloring with ink...needless to say it is definitely out of my comfort zone! I did have a lot of fun along with some serious concentration! Here is what I made from SU! Market Fresh Stamp Set...

The wine tag is from Jaded Blossom...if you don't have a wine tag you can easily make one! Cut a piece of cardstock 3x8 and score at 2...you can use a circle punch for the opening...when I have made them from scratch I used a 1 3/8...I "fussy cut" the grapes for the little 3x3 gift card...which I think turned out a lot better than I thought!

Using Journal Cards to Make Cards!

Yesterday I read an article about using journal cards as cards...which I think was a neat idea...As a card maker I never used the journal cards until now...

Here is what I came up with...

The journal cards are from Echo Park's Homegrown Series...needless to say I am glad that I read that article...I plan on going through my other paper packs to find more journal cards...so keep an eye out for my next journal card post!

Can You Case It #82 ~ Farm Fresh

Yesterday my husband and I took our six year old son on a "Magic Carpet Ride" to Shenandoah Valley...one of our favorite places to escape from the hectic pace of Northern Virginia...We love to drive the scenic roads and getting "lost"...nothing like beautiful mountains, farms, and fresh produce stands with yummy peaches, corn, and raspberries...With yesterday's drive still in my mind I pulled out on of my favorite patterned paper packs that I bought at the Scrapbook Expo...Echo Park's Homegrown and stamp set...fun colors, patterns, and farm themed stamps that fit perfectly with all we saw yesterday...
Here is my take on this week's sketch...
While driving around we saw countless tractors especially bright green ones which inspired this one! I used SU! Wild Wasabi for the tractor and Tango Twist for the sentiment...For the carrots I used Wild Wasabi for the green tops and SU! Tango Twist marker for the carrot part...I "fussy" cut them to the best of my ability...I tied a piece of SU! Linen Thread around the carrots and glued a clothes pin that is holding the Wild Wasabi Ribbon...For the stitched boxes I used Memory Box Stitched Square Dies...another purchase from the Scrapbook Expo...
We certainly had a great time yesterday and definitely will be heading out there soon again!

OSAT Blog Hop ~ Back to School

Hi there and welcome to this month's OSAT Blog Hop...Back to School! As a teacher this is my favorite shopping time of the year...nothing like brand new pencils, Pink Pearl Erasers, Sharpies and whiteboard markers!
Now that I have a child of my own in school (he will be starting 1st grade in September) I make it a point to help out his teacher when it comes to supplies for the classroom especially with budget cuts these days and how much we spend out of our own pocket for our classroom...
Here is what I made for his teacher...I hope she likes it!

When I started thinking about this project I wanted to do something different and while going through my supplies I found this metal box that I bought a couple years back (you never know when you might need it!) The box is from Provo Crafts...I dusted it off and wrapped it with Bella Blvd. Star Student "Brainiac" which I picked up this past June at the Scrapbook Expo...I used SU! Real Red Cotton Ribbon along the bottom to help "pop" out all the fun colors from the paper...My son's school mascot is the fox and I pulled out SU! Fox and Friends kit to make a couple 3x3 cards that she can use through out the year...I also clipped (from Recollections) a little fox to the container using SU! Whisper White and Old Olive...the stitched circle die cut is another goody I pick up from the Scrapbook Expo made by Memory Box...I stamped the fox in SU! Close to Cocoa..for the 3x3 cards I pulled them out from my drawer...I believe the blue is SU! Bashful Blue and SU! Real Red...the ribbon is also SU! in Tango Twist, Lost Lagoon, Pear Pizzaz, and Real Red...I tied them off with SU! Linen Thread...In the box I put pencils, pens, markers, crayons, and most import hand sanitizer (which we always seem to run out of!)

Freshly Made Sketches #198 ~ You Are My Sunshine

When I saw this sketch I immediately knew which stamp to use...I love it when that happens...
Here is my take on this week's sketch...
The stamp I used is by Cam and Chloe for Hero Arts...I love this stamp! I rummaged through some paper and found Summertime by October Afternoon...Sunshine...I pulled out my Memory Box Stitched die cuts and went to town with it...I seem to be going through a clothes pin stage and used it to clip the two squares together..I also pulled out some of my SU! Bermuda Bay ribbon and a button from their Brights Collections plus a little twin to bring it all together...It was a fun card to make!

Thanks for stopping by!

CYCI #80 Hugs and Kisses

When I saw this sketch I immediately thought of my new Technique Tuesday stamp set Hugs and Kisses...
Here is this week's sketch

http://canyoucaseit.com/

Here is my take...
Before I started making my card I pulled out my sewing machine and while sticking my tongue out I very carefully sewed the white card stock (it took about 4 tries until I was happy!). I definitely still need to work on turning corners and staying straight! After stamping the sentiments I needed a heart to complete it! I dusted off one of my first SU! sets that I ever bought...Dilly Dally (2007!) because I knew that heart would fit perfectly! I used Crumb Cake (though I still prefer to call it Kraft!) as the base...Brights DSP in Real Red for the second layer...Whisper White and Real Red ink plus Memento Tuxedo Black...I felt that something was missing so I grabbed my Real Red Cotton Ribbon...I am a big fan of the color combination of black and red...it always looks so clean to me...

Tag You're It! Challenge #27 ~ Can't Thank You Enough...

Here is my take on this week's Tag You're It #27...
I love making tag cards and was happy to see one being used for this week's challenge...I pulled out two of my SU! kits...Flower Shop and Lovely Amazing You along with their Hello Honey ink...another favorite of mine these days...For the tag I used Mama Elephant Splendid which I picked up at the Scrapbook Expo (along with several other tag dies too!) The black ink is Memento Tuxedo Black...I like how the two colors work with each other...I used SU! Hello Honey ribbon and a black clothes pin to tie it off from Recollections...The stitched circles are from Memory Box (another Scrapbook Expo goodie).

PCCCS #155 ~ Hello Sweet Friend

For this week's sketch challenge I am using one of my favorite SU! stamp kits...Work of Art...When I first bought this stamp set I never thought of all the endless possibilities of what could be created!
Here is the sketch

http://www.papercraftcrew.com/category/challenges/card-sketch/

Here is my take

For this card I used SU! new in-colors Cucumber Crush and Watermelon Wonder. These two colors are quickly becoming my favorite! I used Whisper White for the base of the card, Watermelon Wonder DSP for the second layer and for two out of the three banners. I pulled out my SU! oval and banner die cuts too. For the black "seeds" I used my SU! hole punch. I stamped the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black. Before taking a picture I asked my son (who is almost 6!) what did it look like? He told me it was a watermelon and to double check I asked him what were the block dots and he told me they were the seeds we can't eat! Score! :)
